Working with Young Catholics to Keep Them Strong in their Faith

Dynamic Catholic reports 85% of Catholic college students lose their faith in college. Even more startling, Curtis Martin, the founder of the Fellowship of Catholic University Students (FOCUS) indicates that the number may be as high as 90%. The college years are a short but critical window. This is when young people are making significant life decisions: choosing a career, finding a spouse, and developing patterns of daily living. Some are trying to decide what to live for. Others are asking themselves if they really believe in Jesus enough to practice their faith when not guided by their parents, grandparents, or local Church.

They need to know that Jesus loves them and has a plan for their lives, and that they are not alone as they seek to follow him! Despite all the harmful elements of college life, God continues to draw these young men and women to himself. Partners wants to help young people come back to their faith through daily prayer and meditation.

“So you, my child, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And what you heard from me through many witnesses entrust to faithful people who will have the ability to teach others as well.” Timothy 2: 1-2

Catholic students can encounter Jesus on college campuses, some rekindling the faith of their youth and some discovering Jesus for the first time. Every year, 20,000 college students to more than 150 Universities across the United States and Canada receive a special college edition of The Word Among Us magazine. Some even read the magazine in digital format on their smartphones or tablets, all at no charge, thanks to you. Our hope and prayer is that God continues to change the lives of thousands of young Catholics in these formative years!
