For whatever reason a woman chooses to have an abortion, it profoundly changes her. A life within her had an unnatural end. A woman who has had an abortion often suffers emotionally, spiritually, and physically.
Perhaps they’ve said to God such things as
“God, how could you love me? I’ve had an abortion.”
“But God, I’ve killed my baby. Am I still your child?”
“God, I don’t deserve your love.”
After Abortion: God Offers Forgiveness, Healing, and Hope assures the reader that God’s love is unconditional. Nothing we have done wrong–including having an abortion–could make him love us less. “I have loved you with an everlasting love” (Jeremiah 31:3).
I wrote this prayer booklet specifically for women in prison, after I attended a Sunday Eucharistic service at a prison where I volunteer and learned that two ladies were having a hard time coping with the effects of their abortion. After Abortion is not designed to replace personal or group counseling if available, but to offer support and comfort to any woman who finds herself suffering alone after her abortion.
The booklet has seven reflections based on Scripture, together with questions to prompt personal heart-to-heart conversations with God. There is encouragement to stay with a Scripture verse or a suggested action until the woman is ready to move on.
While I wrote this booklet for women, I’m very aware that there are women and men experiencing regret, guilt, and shame for the part they played in encouraging or supporting an abortion. This booklet is also for them, as well as for any pastor, priest, counselor, or person who ministers to women suffering the effects of an abortion.
God loves everyone and offers his gift of forgiveness, healing, and hope to all his beloved children!

After Abortion – God Offers Forgiveness, Healing and Hope is a wonderful new prayer resource published by The Word Among Us Press and donated to the Arlington Diocese for women who are seeking union with God after abortion. This unique prayer booklet effectively uses Sacred Scripture and thoughtful reflections to help the penitent woman find healing and wholeness through a personal encounter with Jesus Christ. We distributed 20 copies of this publication to all parishes in our diocese. In just a few days, we have also received requests from 6 parishes for additional copies to place on their resource shelves. They are being sent to Project Rachel clients who call for assistance as well as to women who attend our Entering Canaan Days of Prayer and Healing, Rachel’s Vineyard Weekend Retreats and Monthly Aftercare Gatherings. In addition to this we are sending them to counselors and shelters for pregnant mothers (many of whom are post-abortive) as requests for them come in. This is a beautiful way to help those suffering after abortion to understand that God loves them and wants them to be reconciled to Him, His Church, their children and, finally, to themselves.
I’m writing to thank-you for sending a copy of your pamphlet, “After Abortion”. I’m excited about using this wonderful resource on our female unit. What a blessing it will be to those struggling with the effects of abortion! Thank you for following the leading of our Lord and making this available to Chaplains.
I had an aboration in the early 80’s and I can not forgive myself. My doctor said I should have one because the chances of me or the baby or both of us dying was great. My husband agreed with the dr. he said he needed me to be with him and help raise our other children. They were the only reason I never killed myself. The thought had been on my mind for a long time but I would think of them and not do it. I still suffer over it. I feel like a murderess. I know it was needed to be done but my haeart still aches with the guilt and sorrow..
This a wonderful book. I would love to have several copies if possible to help in our ministry. There are several women we see each month who have had an abortion and still cringing under the weight of unforgiveness.

I am the Regional Coordinator for http://www.SilentNoMoreAwareness.org and http://www.OperationOutcry.org and an advoicate of http://www.aCryWithoutAVoice.com and an approved post-abortion speaker for my Diocese. Marina, the Project Rachel Director at Diocese of Venice Florida sent me three of the After Abortion prayer booklets and asked my thoughts about using them in our post-abortion support network and at the planned parenthood prayer vigil - to give to the women leaving the facility.
I like the booklet very much and would like to order 100 to give out as neded and to share with our other Silent No More women here.
It took me about 20 years of pain and suffering to fianlly accept God’s Mercy and Grace.
Praise God HE has forgiven me and my family and husband accept me in my forgiven state.
