Dear Partners, As the newest member of the Partners team, I want to introduce myself and tell you more about our ministry of prayer, which is such an integral part of the work of the Partners ministry.
I have been a reader of The Word Among Us for over twenty-five years, and I was a member of the Board of Directors for almost fifteen years. I am a convert from Judaism to Catholicism, and the magazine has had a profound impact on my life, especially in deepening my faith in Jesus Christ and strengthening my prayer life. I use it every morning as part of my prayer time, and “I wouldn’t leave home without it.”
In December 2008, Jeff Smith, the president of The Word Among Us, told me of his desire—and that of the Partners team—to minister to our many supporters through personal contact and prayer. He asked me to join Partners Ministry as the Director of Partners Relations. I was delighted to say yes, and since January 2009, I have had the unique opportunity of speaking with and praying over the phone with over five hundred of our Partners supporters. In addition, the Partners team meets weekly to pray for your needs. You and your intentions are also remembered at a Mass offered each month by either a prison or military chaplain.
What a privilege it is for us to serve you through prayer, and how inspiring it has been to see God answering so many prayers. Here are just a couple of examples:
“Our mom, who had a heart attack, has recovered and is doing very well. Our brother who had a stroke has fully recovered and is now driving. I am grateful for your prayers.”
“My husband has recovered well from serious surgery related to prostate cancer, stents, and hernia. He is healing very nicely and is off pain medicine. My eyes are getting better, and I no longer have allergic reaction to the eye medicine I take for glaucoma. Keep up the prayers.”
Many of our partners have also asked us how they can be of more help to our ministry. For example, a small group of Partners donors have sponsored a Matching Grant Program. This was mentioned in our Pentecost mailing and the June issue of The Word Among Us. These donors have agreed to match every donation of $100 or more, up to $50,000, from May 1 to August 31, 2010.
It is an honor for us to pray for faithful Partners like you.
