Following are thoughts and letters from prisoners across the US that are receiving “The Word Among Us” through the Partners ministry.
“I found the Lord through The Word Among Us magazine. A friend gave it to me and told me to read it. My eyes were suddenly opened to the light at the end of the tunnel. After I asked him to forgive all my sins, his joy came into my heart. When I gave my life to him, he was waiting for me with open arms.
Now I’m reading God’s Word and praying daily. I’m so blessed, even behind these walls. Well that’s my testimony.” —Crystal, Illinois.
“A volunteer brought The Word Among Us to the prison. I read it cover to cover. Because of your publication I am now not only in fellowship with God, but am now well into the RCIA program. And I’m praying. I hadn’t prayed in nearly five years.” —Daniel, Kentucky.
“For years, I have been cutting apart my issues as soon as I am finished with it and sending parts to my pen friends on death row in all 34 States.” —Sister, Ohio.
“The Word Among Us has our God talking to me in a very intimate way.” —Michael, Louisanna.
The Word Among Us that you kindly send us regularly are a great help in our ministry with women in detention. We wish you could see their faces when we give them a copy - how they smile and express their thanks to us and to God for having it. Some of them are very familiar with this magazine and they usually ask for the new copy of the month. We hope that this magazine will help these women find the Lord and follow him. We say thank you for all the work and effort that you do to provide us with this material. We also keep the donors in our prayers, so that the Word of God can be brought to these women.” —Chaplain, California.
“I’d like you to know that I ask the other inmates here not to trash The Word Among Us magazines after the month runs out. I give them to the visiting priest to give out on the lock down block because a lot of the men there do not have anything to read. We cannot waste anything around here for the Catholic Church.” —Michael, Pennsylvania.
“Thank you for all the difference you are making in prisoners’ lives.”—George, California.
