Just as our Lord came to bridge the gap between the Father and ourselves, so each of us is called to be a bridge to bring God’s love and hope to his people. This is the goal of The Word Among Us Partners: to be a bridge of life, and faith to those in truly difficult circumstances.
For years, we have sought to be a source of hope to Catholics in prison and to help Catholics in the military grow in their faith. Now Partners feels that the Holy Spirit is directing us to preach the Gospel of life to women who are facing an unexpected pregnancy or who are experiencing the emotional pain of an abortion. This new ministry, we believe, will offer life, forgiveness, and healing to women who are either conflicted about the future of their unborn child or who need healing because of an abortion.
Thankfully, there are thousands of Catholics like you who are also deeply concerned about the women who find themselves in serious difficulty and who need to experience God’s love. Together we can minister to them, through God’s word, which has the power to change their lives.
The need is very real. Consider just one statistic: since abortion was legalized in North America, there have been 50 million abortions. That number might sound abstract, but the enormity of the suffering behind it is incomprehensible!
Christ calls all of us to reach out to these women in need. There is a real urgency to minister to our sisters in Christ who are struggling with the issues of a pregnancy or an abortion. We are called to bring the Gospel message of hope and life to as many of these women in need as possible. And one of the best ways we can minister to them is to help them encounter Jesus and his word through The Word Among Us.
For a woman who is pregnant right now, the message of God’s love can lead her to choose life and welcome her child as a precious gift from God. For a woman who has had an abortion, healing can take place only through an experience of God’s love and forgiveness. The Word Among Us can put such women in touch with God’s love and mercy while providing practical encouragement, inspiration, guidance
Through crisis pregnancy centers and Project Rachel ministries, The Word Among Us will be available to those women in crisis—from an unexpected pregnancy or from the emotional devastation of an abortion.
Partners has already begun to reach out to these women. Since the beginning of Lent 2010, women are receiving
